What Is Clear Paint Protection Film (PPF)?
Performance & Protection
Clear paint protection film (PPF), also called clear bra, clear film or clear paint film, is a transparent thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) self-healing film applied to the painted surfaces of a new or used car. It forms an invisible protective barrier between the original paint and the outside environment, and shields the surface from stone chips, bug splatters, minor abrasions, road debris, acid rain, bird droppings and tree sap. The same film is also used on headlights, front bumpers, mirror caps, door edges, RVs, motorcycles and aircraft.
Product FeaturesProtects paint from debris: the elastic TPU layer absorbs the impact of gravel, road debris and tree branches kicked up at highway speed, so stone chips and scratches never reach the original paint.
Acid rain and stain resistance: the dense nano ceramic topcoat blocks acid rain, bird droppings, tree sap, insect splatters, asphalt and road salt from etching into the clear coat, and the surface washes clean with water.
Optical clarity: optical grade TPU with high light transmission keeps the original paint colour visible with no haze, and lifts the surface to a mirror like high gloss.
Non-yellowing: a UV blocking formula stops the film from turning yellow under strong sunlight, keeping the protected area as clear as new for 10 years.
Self-healing topcoat: instant self-healing on the hydrophobic topcoat and heat activated healing on the hydrophilic topcoat, so minor scratches and swirl marks close up by themselves.
No glue residue: Ashland or Henkel adhesive removes evenly after years in service, without leaving glue residue or damaging the vehicle paint.
